The 2000 US Presidential election was one of the closest in American history. President George W. Bush was declared winner following six weeks of uncertainty and since then, the United States has continued a trend of intense elections decided by small numbers of voters in crucial swing states.
The Presidency of George W. Bush and the United States were indelibly transformed by the attacks on September 11th, 2001, where the President led the response to terrorism, seeking to expand freedom, opportunity, and security at home and abroad. As the 43rd President, George W. Bush has a much wider legacy. His administration reformed America’s education system and his economic policy drove robust private-sector economic growth and job creation. One of his most impactful policies was the 2003 PEPFAR initiative, which to date has saved the lives of an estimated over 25m people, mostly in Africa, living with HIV-Aids.
Join us and President George W. Bush, on Thursday, 19 September, at 2:30pm BST/ 3:30pm CET/ 4:30pm IDT, to hear his impressions on the challenges facing the United States domestically and abroad, his thoughts on the future of the Oval Office, and the potential economic and policy implications to come.
