In March, Britain and the EU reached a milestone agreement in their Brexit negotiations, but the road to a sensible outcome remains complex and long, with ample opportunity for spats and setbacks along the way.
As well as differing stances among the UK’s politicians – both within and between opposing parties – there are numerous tough issues that the UK and the EU still need to agree upon. These include a practicable solution to the Irish border problem, agreeing on UK/EU trading arrangements after the end of the Brexit transition period, and how much say the UK would have in European financial rule-making.
